This basket has been sprayed with a protective finish but i would advise not to submerge in water. Wash with a damp cloth. This also comes with a removable laundry bag.The bag helps to protect the inside and convenient for pulling laundry out and can be thrown straight in the washier.
This product is made of newspaper and cardboard. The bag is made of old shirts. 100% recycled. Its about as sturdy as a plastic basket. So I would not advise sitting on it.
